Project/event description:

President and Founder of Global Citizens Initiative Inc. (GCI) will host a conversation about the Global Citizens Youth Summit (GCYS or Summit). This informational session will offer ideas on promoting global citizenship among youth through programs and curricula. Hosted at the Harvard Faculty Club, the nine-day program brings together 24 of the brightest young minds, ages 16 to 19, from around the world to tackle global challenges by creating solutions to implement in their home communities.  Our high school students come from 21 nationalities, 33 schools, representing a total of 34 languages. Students interact with speakers from Harvard University who lecture on global leadership, innovation, social enterprise, and global citizenship. Students interact with speakers from Harvard University who lecture on global leadership, innovation, social enterprise, and global citizenship.Guided by expert faculty from Phillips Exeter Academy, our program uses Harkness pedagogy to encourage a rigorous intellectual exchange of perspectives. We have veteran teachers from Phillips Exeter leading Harkness discussions on the topics of ethics, engagement, excellence, and leadership during our Summit. GCYS provides students with a meaningful and intensive learning experience to engage with diverse peers, become educated with the appropriate tools to succeed in the 21st century, and empower students to become change agents. The Summit is also the subject of a study by global education expert William Gaudellli, who is an Associate Professor at Teachers College, Columbia University For more information about GCYS, please go to http://globalci.org/gc-summit/.)
