We are also looking for our second group of 100 high school or middle school teachers to sign up for a curriculum based classroom project - Food For Thought. For the past decade we have run video conferences on sharing food and cultures. My grandmother always said, "The way to a man’s heart is through his stomach." Now we have put a new twist, "The way to learn a language is through your stomach." Everyone eats. Everyone has a fun, and most of all, everyone gets to learn a great deal more about other people and cultures.

Project/event description:
We will talk with schools in other countries --with different languages -- and learn about idioms. According to Cambridge School Dictionary, IDIOM is a group of words used together with a meaning that you cannot guess from the meanings of the separate words. We'll take a look at some challenges automatic translation tools face with such idioms. Therefore, in this videoconference, we will have fun sharing some of our language's idioms and meanings.

Project/event directions for participation:
1. Think or research about interesting idioms from your language. a) What is the word-by-word translation to English? b) If you translate word-by-word, does it have the same meaning in English? c) How would you translate or explain the meaning?
2. Join us at zoom.us/j/124606595 and share your thoughts. We can make a dictionary of idioms discussed on this event.
