Additional Instructions
  • These instructions also appear in the context of the event VoiceThread, so you need not read them here.
  • Navigate the VoiceThread using the forward and back buttons (bottom right) and clicking on embedded text, audio and video posts (left column). Click on the double square (bottom right) to view all slides.
  • Make your own text, audio or video posts or ask questions using the COMMENT button (bottom center).
  • Keep checking back into the VoiceThread to contribute or see new greetings, to read responses to your comments and questions, and to meet new teachers and students. (New teachers and students will continuously be visiting the VoiceThread and adding new greetings.)
  • To add video greetings to the VoiceThread:
  • For each different language (or dialect) that your students speak, choose one student (for whom you have permission to share a video) to say the greeting.
  • For each student selected, using any type of recording device, make one video of 5 seconds or less in which the student says “hello” (or a common greeting that is used when meeting people) in his or her language. (Only one student per video, please. Only the greeting, please – for example “hello” only, not “hello, how are you?”)
  • Add the video to the Global Greetings event VoiceThread: In the All Slides View (which you can access by clicking the double square on the bottom right), click the large + sign, then the Upload File button (middle). Then select the video from your computer. This will create a new slide/page in the VoiceThread. Identify your greeting by posting the following information on its VoiceThread page.
    • Student First Name (to protect the students’ identities, we will only use first names and we will not list the school names or towns/cities)
    • Country
    • Language (or Dialect) of Greeting
    • Greeting in Latin Script (ABC’s) – For example: Namaste or Ni hao.
    • Greeting in Original Script (if applicable) – For example: नमस्ते or 你好.
